For every $10 necklace that was purchased, here is how that money was spent by BeadforLife:
$2.10 goes directly to the beader ($1.90 in cash and .20 cents in materials) at the time we purchase her items. This represents an average earning per women of over $1200 a year.
$1.70 supports community development work in Uganda fighting extreme poverty in the areas of health, housing, education, and sustainable livelihood.
$2.40 supports our work in North America to educate and engage people about extreme poverty and to sell the beads.
$.70 cents is spent between administrative costs ($.60) in Uganda and North America and fundraising ($.10) expense in North America.
$3.10 is money allocated for future investment in community development. It is our intention to move this money into targeted development projects as quickly as feasible to ensure high quality programming, effective program evaluation, and fiscal responsibility.
