Part of BeadforLife’s European Program includes building partnerships with professionals across the continent – from Brussels to Barcelona and passing through Paris – a collaborative effort to offer BeadforLife fair trade products to local clientele. These partnerships are the key to promoting BeadforLife, educating consumers and spreading the word about our mission to help fight extreme poverty.
I recently had the honor of meeting one of these partners, Di Beach, an amazing woman who runs a beautiful and cozy hotel in southern Spain.
Di has been a reseller of BeadforLife products since 2011 and she even goes a step further by donating all of the profits from her bead sales to other charitable works in Uganda. A very special connection with Uganda has lead Di to BeadforLife and a partnership that has brought Ugandan recycled paper jewelry into the heart of Andalucía.
After wandering the world like an albatross, I have now built my nest in a small Andalucian village. From the ruins of the three tumbled-down village houses that I bought, arose a beautiful boutique hotel that is my new life. As the business began to bear fruit, I pondered about how to return to the world some small part of the joy it has given me. A series of tiny events focused my attention on Uganda where I lived for several years in the 1960s, and where my oldest daughter was born. The serendipitous chain led to BeadforLife and the work they do in a country I love, and for a people who were my friends years ago. My guests love the beads and it makes me happy when I think that every bead might be helping the daughter of a woman who I knew so long ago.
