- Strive to prevent and reduce environmental impacts of our operations, by using alternative energy sources where possible
- Support resource sustainability by reducing energy and material needs while increasing the reuse and recycling of materials
- Consciously purchase materials and select vendors with environmental criteria in mind
- Build on our employees’ awareness of local and global environmental issues while encouraging them to take proactive steps in waste reduction and smart spending
- Be a leader not only in the social justice community but also in the environmental community
Environmental Initiatives:
- Reducing our carbon emissions by supporting employees to use public transportation, including purchasing eco-passes for each employee
- Purchasing a significant portion of our office energy needs from sustainable wind energy
- Reducing waste by purchasing recycled boxed for BeadParty shipments and re-using these boxes as long as possible
- New recycling and composting programs in the office, resulting in a noticeable decrease in the amount of trash we generate
- Educating staff about various environmental conservation practices for office and home at monthly meetings and other venues
- Switched our office paper use to 100% post consumer content paper
- Created and implemented an environmental computer policy setting that encourages all BeadforLife staff to use the most energy efficient computer settings
- North American office participated in 2009 Boulder County Walk & Bike Month
